Southeastern Community College Alumni Association | Distinguished Alumnus Award 2015
A Keokuk, Iowa native, Tim Peevler enrolled at Southeastern Community College, graduating in 1976 with an Associates of Applied Arts degree Retail Marketing. It included on the job training at Pamida that resulted in a mid-level management position. “I had some of the best instructors at SCC, including Business teacher Chuck Peters. He was so positive and made class fun. I applied what I learned and worked part-time, graduating with no college debt.”
Tim went on to earn a BA in Business from Northeast Missouri State University. For the next 20 years he rose through the ranks to be store manager at Pamida & Jack’s stores. In the evenings, he studied for his real estate license, eventually purchasing a small agency in Keokuk. Tim has grown Peevler Real Estate into a successful and respected firm.
“I’ve been so fortunate to have such a great real estate team all these years,” Tim says. “The best high pressure salesman is a low pressure salesman. We’ve never sold anyone a house. Instead, we try to find the best fit for our buyers.”
Growing up in a single-parent household, Tim’s youth wasn’t always easy. He decided early on not to let circumstances define him. “I don’t have any special talents. I just try to do the best I can with what I’ve been given. Each one of us has an opportunity to make a difference. Every day we get to choose.”
In fact, there are few organizations or events in Keokuk that Tim and Peevler Real Estate haven’t supported. He has especially enjoyed his work with area schools, his bicycle restoration and give-away program, sponsoring a Little League team and Habitat for Humanity.
Tim and his wife, Bonnie, live in Keokuk.
