Andrew Kious, formerly of Fort Madison, Iowa, is the son of Patricia Schroeder Kious and the late Cecil Kious. Dr. Kious is a 1973 graduate of the Aquinas High School, a 1975 graduate of Southeastern Community College and a 1982 graduate of the University of Iowa College Of Dentistry. Dr. Kious served as a dentist in the United States Air Force, serving at six duty assignments. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal Two Oak Leaf Clusters and retired after twenty four years of service at the rank of Colonel.
Upon his retirement from the USAF, Dr. Kious accepted a position in the Restorative Sciences Department at The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University where he currently practices as Associate Professor and director for the Freshman Operative Dentistry course. His personal faculty practice is primarily focused on the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, a problem that often leads to stroke and heart attack. He has authored several scientific articles that have been published in professional journals and was recognized in 2011 with the prestigious Excellence in Education Award from the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Dr. Kious is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. He is also a charter member of the Georgia Health Sciences University Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society.
Dr. Kious is a tireless educator and clinician who gives significant credit to Southeastern Community College for serving as a springboard to his higher education, professional achievements and opportunities to serve.
Currently Dr. Kious makes his home in Augusta, Georgia. He and his wife, Susan, have one daughter residing in Atlanta.
