Cathy earned two degrees from Southeastern Community College: an Associate of Arts degree in 1988 and an Associate of Applied Science Nursing degree in 1992. She became an Iowa Registered Nurse in 1992. In 1995 she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Illinois University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies. From 2006-2011 Cathy was a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist at Metzeler Automotive Profile Systems, Iowa Division, in Keokuk. In that position she also served as the first aid supervisor, workers compensation administrator and wellness coordinator. Cathy was a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders from 2001-2004.
Cathy volunteers for the Lee County American Red Cross and Salvation Army Disaster Services and serves on the Lee County Board of Health and on the Salvation Army of Lee County Board. She is a past member of the SCC Foundation Board. She has provided leadership to many other boards, including Iowa Easter Seals and Keokuk Low Rent Housing Agency and has helped further the causes of many other local charitable organizations including the Keokuk Area Hospital Auxiliary, the American Heart Association, the March of Dimes and her church.
She and her husband, Tom, live in Montrose, Iowa.
