After graduation from Central Lee High School in 1971, Gary Mansheim decided to dream big and become a physician. He started his journey by enrolling at SCC in 1971. He credits his quality science educational foundation to talented instructors he had at SCC, notably Fred Karre, John Breshears, and Jim lngemanson.
After graduating from SCC in 1973, Gary transferred to the University of Iowa to complete his bachelor’s degree, graduating in 1975. He then attended the University Of Iowa School Of Medicine, graduating in 1979. His Family Practice Residency took him to St. Joseph Hospital in Flint Michigan from 1979-1982. He became a Board Certified Family Physician in 1982.
After completing residency in Family Practice, he settled in Burlington, Iowa where he discovered the community’s profound need for primary care. Together with other practitioners, he established a primary care group [Burlington Family Practice] which has grown to 20 providers. Dr. Manheim’s goal has always been to improve access to high quality, compassionate, affordable medical care for the people of the region.
“Dr. Mansheim has been a physician in the Burlington area for over four decades as a family physician. He is a devoted and caring family physician, encompassing all that it means. He is a founder of Burlington Area Family Practice Center and a major reason for its continued success. He has taken great care of his patients and is appreciated by the community”. Dr. Douglas Peters
