Milton Meuler attended BJC in 1929, graduating in 1931. He earned a B.S. in Industrial Arts Education from Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) and an M.S. from Iowa State University. Milt taught at St. John’s Parochial School, Horace Mann Junior High, Burlington (Apollo) high school and BJC, also serving as guidance counselor for both BHS and BJC. Milt began his administrative duties as BJC in 1961, serving as the College Registrar, Admissions Director, Student Guidance Counselor, Director of Arts and Sciences, and Instructional Service Director, the position he held until his retirement in 1976. SCC granted him emeritus status in 1983. Milt served on the Burlington School Board for eight years and has been active in his church and throughout the community for more than 50 years, receiving an outstanding volunteer service award from Governor Terry Branstadt in 1989. He and his wife, Verna, have two daughters, Diane Barnthouse and Kay Jacobs.
In 1993, Milt presented the SCCAA board with a comprehensive college history. Continuing his role as mentor/leader, he joined the SCC Alumni Association Board in 2002.
