Charles: Graduated from BHS (1934), BJC (1936), and University of Iowa (1938 – BS in Commerce). Charles was a CPA and a senior partner in McGladrey and Hansen, Dunn & Co. in Burlington, Iowa for more than 30 years. He was active in the YMCA, Rotary, United Way, Boy Scouts and the Chamber of Commerce. Until his death in 1999, Charles lived in retirement on his rural Burlington farm with his wife, Marie Marzolf Matsch.
Robert: Graduated from BHS (1942), attended BJC (1942-43), received a BS in Commerce from the University of Iowa (1948) and is a CPA. After serving in WWII in military intelligence, Robert worked in Des Moines for Wolf & Co., a public accounting firm, and as business manager for Dane Morgan & Associates for 20 years. He joined First National Bank in Burlington in 1970 as an Assistant Trust Officer, later becoming Sr. Vice President and Manager of the Trust Department as well as Chairman of the Board of Firstar (now USBank). Robert has served on numerous civic boards, including Southeast Iowa Symphony, Historical Society, Aspen Grove Cemetery, Art Guild, Special Needs Foundation, John H. Witte, Jr. Foundation, Chamber of Commerce, Young House, City of Burlington Planning Commission, Great River Medical Center, Burlington Library Board and United Way. Although retired from the bank, Robert maintains an office there and lives with his wife, Margaret Canella Matsch, in Burlington.
Richard: Graduated from BHS in 1947, attended BJC (1947-48), received a BA from the University of Michigan (1951) and his JD in 1953. Judge Matsch served in the U.S. Army (1953-55), and worked as Assistant U.S. Attorney in Colorado (1959-61), Deputy City Attorney of the City and County of Denver (1961-63), a Judge in U.S. Bankruptcy Court (1965-74), and U.S. District Court for Colorado (1974-present), presiding over the Oklahoma City bombing case that began in 1996. He was a member of the Judicial Conference of the U.S. and its Committee on Criminal Law, and served on the Board of Directors of the Federal Judicial Center. The Judge continues to work in Denver and lives with his wife, Elizabeth Murdock Matsch, on their ranch near Longmont, Colorado.
The Matsch brothers were born in Burlington, Iowa to local grocery store owners, William and Emma Wiedemeyer Matsch. Their brother, William Matsch, Jr. lives in Cherry Hills, Colorado.
